Once we have completed an installation at your period or listed property, we can return to service it to keep your CosyGlazed and draught proofed windows, doors and loft or floor insulation in first-class condition.
We know the maintenance of your home is important to you, which is why you chose to invest in improving the overall fabric of your property with Mitchell & Dickinson’s bespoke insulation solutions. Yet, as with all good things, our products do need care and attention if we want them to continue to operate at their peak.
Our new Service offering is in addition to our 5-year standard guarantee on all Mitchell & Dickinson installations. It will give you an inspection and full service of your installation carried out by our expert craftsmen, so that you can have the peace of mind that your insulation solutions are kept beautifully clean and in excellent working order, just as they were on the day they were first installed.
Why our Service is worth the investment
Mitchell & Dickinson’s insulation solutions are the best on the market – and our Trustpilot rating shows our customers think so too. Our solutions are built to last so if anything does happen to go wrong, which it very rarely does, you will be covered by our 5-year guarantee as standard. This means we will arrange for one of our friendly craftspeople to return at your convenience to resolve the specific issue.
What our guarantee doesn’t cover, however, is the general upkeep and maintenance of your entire CosyGlazing, draught proofing and insulation after our installation is complete. The aftercare, such as the cleaning and ongoing general maintenance, is up to you.
With our new Service visit, we take care of all the cleaning and maintenance for you. We can ensure your insulation is in good working order and looks pristine for years to come.
We will also compile a report on the condition of the fabric of your windows and doors, lofts and floors that we see on inspection which will give our recommendations on any future repair and maintenance work you might need to plan for. For example, putty repairs or painting and decorating, so you can commission a suitable local tradesperson to help you at a future date.
What Mitchell & Dickinson’s Service includes
For CosyGlazing and draught proofing window and door installations:
- Cleaning of internal original glazing and glazing bars and meeting rail
- Cleaning of CosyGlazing, both in and outer face, including removal and replacement
- Checking and servicing of CosyGlazing magnetic tape polarity to ensure seal
- Checking and servicing of window furniture, including locks, stays, sash screws, lifts and handles and catches to ensure good working order, oiled and cleaned and replacing if required
- Checking and servicing all draught proofing brushes, where installed, to ensure perfect draught proofing is maintained, and replacing if required
- Full servicing to ensure smooth opening and closing of windows – easing the windows where necessary and adjusting sash cords; checking weights and pulleys in sash windows; and checking and easing where required for casements
- Full servicing of doors we originally treated, checking and servicing draught proofing to ensure it is working to an optimal level, replacing where required, and providing any adjustments to ease opening and closing
- Checking trickle vents to ensure suitable ventilation provision in windows and doors
- A report on any pending puttying, restoration or decorating required and advice on insulation upgrades required, in line with any planned or implemented change to heating systems such as air or ground source heat pumps
For loft and underfloor insulation:
- Checking that notices are still correctly displayed and that they haven’t been moved by other trades or visits to your loft/ underfloor space
- Ensuring that insulating material is still properly in place, providing additional material where required
- Ensuring that light covers are still in place according to requirements
- Ensuring that draught seals to loft hatch are still in good order, replacing where required and that ventilation to the loft and underfloor area remains adequate
- Ensuring that pipes etc remain properly lagged
- Report on any signs of pest infestations or any other issues concerning the roof void/underfloor void

A Service just for you
Mitchell & Dickinson’s Service visit can be arranged for a one off cost depending on the scope of your original installation. It starts at £720 for a typical 3 bedroomed house but will cost more for larger properties and is subject to the size of you installation.
